Darren K. Oglesby has focused exclusively on family law matters since returning to Pittsburgh in 2003. Frustrated by what he sees as the big firm marketing techniques of addressing solely one side of a case, and the drive toward litigation, Darren seeks to first establish a relationship with his clients, husband or wife, mother or father, and proceed according to the needs of the client. Darren’s compassion is what sets him apart from the typical litigator. Encouraged by the trend in family law toward mediated settlements, Darren has been certified both as a mediator and collaborative law attorney.
Darren started at Wilder Mahood McKinley & Oglesby in 2003, working closely with our founding partner, Joanne Ross Wilder. Darren has been a partner of the firm since 2012. Along with attorneys for the firm, he is an author of “Family Law Practice and Procedure,” the leading treatise on Pennsylvania family law. He is also the author of “Valuing Stock Options in the Marital Context,” an article written for the Journal of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.
Darren is a 2003 graduate of the Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, where he graduated summa cum laude and third in his class, and where he served on Law Review and received multiple awards for highest class rank. He was an active member of the Public Interest Law Association and the Boyd School of Law Chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union, and served as a CASA volunteer.
Prior to attending law school, Darren engaged in his most challenging profession, a high school social studies teacher in the Clark County, Nevada School District. He obtained a master’s degree in Education from the University of Nevada Las Vegas, graduating magna cum laude. Prior to teaching, Darren also worked for BP Oil; during his tenure there he obtained master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh, graduating summa cum laude. Darren obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business and Economics from the University of Pittsburgh, graduating summa cum laude in 1989.
Darren is a member of the Collaborative Law Association of Southwestern Pennsylvania, the Family Law Section of the American Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the Allegheny County Bar Association. He is also a graduate of the Family Law Trial Advocacy Institute at the University of Houston School of Law.
